About the Artist
Vinay K Nandishettar is a generative artist whose practice spans computational systems, blockchain architecture, and algorithmic aesthetics — built from years of writing code as a way of thinking, and thinking as a way of making art.
His work lives at the intersection of technical precision and aesthetic emergence, treating the algorithm not as a tool but as a medium with its own logic, its own texture, its own voice.
Rooted in Indian architectural traditions and a deep, personal obsession with structure, colour, and rhythm, Vinay rejects the commodification of generative art. For him, every line of code is a deliberate act — algorithmic art as sculpture, built to last.
Artist Statement
Every system I build runs inside a defined set of parameters — the same rules, the same constraints, every time. What changes is the input: a seed, a hash, a single variable that sends the algorithm down a different path. Nothing is retouched or hand-placed after the fact. What you see is what the system produced, unedited.
Each series starts as a technical question — how do independent elements become a collective form, how does a fixed rule set still surprise its own creator — and the visual output is the answer. Rarity here isn't about limited copies; it's that each output is the one and only resolution of that specific seed through that specific system.
The Series
CHAPEL CITIES is an exploration of urban isolation, architectural scale, and nocturnal atmosphere. It is a fully deterministic, self-contained generative environment that renders intricate cityscapes without external dependencies.
Drawing on the stark geometries of Brutalism and the emotional resonance of colour field painting, the project algorithmically constructs skylines, places lit windows based on resident "personas", and choreographs the flight of solitary birds to weave micro-narratives into the towering concrete.

VESYRA is a curated generative art system exploring motion, contrast, rhythm, and evolving identity through algorithmic composition. Each piece emerges from a non-repetitive generative process, producing unique visual structures shaped by flow, tension, and layered behaviour.
Created as an evolving digital art universe focused on mood, rarity, and collector resonance, VESYRA operates within precise parametric bounds — yet produces no duplicates.
INTERSTICE builds each composition from overlapping translucent polygons, where every new shape's opacity and colour are calculated from how it intersects the ones already placed — so the image is a visible record of its own construction order.
Nothing is layered arbitrarily: each form's position is determined by the negative space left by the previous one, forcing the system to "notice" what's already there before adding to it. The result is a field where depth comes from calculated transparency, not from any manual layering — order and disruption negotiated frame by frame by the same fixed rule set.

CIVIC LOOM treats a city grid like a woven textile: horizontal "weft" threads and vertical "warp" threads are generated independently, then the algorithm resolves every point where they cross — deciding which thread sits on top based on a running density count, the same way a real loom alternates over-under.
That single rule — thread density determines crossing order — is the entire engine. Run it sparse and you get open, architectural grids; run it dense and the same rule produces tangled, textile-like knots. Nothing else in the system changes between the two.

LATTICE is an exploration of modular order, geometric systems, and visual complexity. It is a fully deterministic, self-contained generative environment that constructs intricate abstract compositions through the interaction of tessellation, repetition, and spatial hierarchy.
Drawing on the formal language of Constructivism, geometric abstraction, and computational design, the project algorithmically assembles interlocking grids, rhythmic patterns, and modular structures into dynamic visual fields. Through controlled variation and deterministic rules, each composition discovers a distinct equilibrium between density and openness, symmetry and disruption, revealing how simple geometric elements can evolve into singular architectural abstractions.

CONSTELLATIONS is an exploration of how independent elements become collective form. It is a fully deterministic generative system in which thousands of algorithmically positioned particles assemble into evolving fields of density, rhythm, and emergence.
Rather than depicting celestial constellations, the series considers the constellation as a principle of organization — where isolated points acquire meaning through proximity, pattern, and relationship. Each composition becomes a unique spatial ecology, revealing order that arises not from a central design but from the cumulative behaviour of simple computational rules.
